Monthy vs EE

Monthy vs an EE data add-on

EE's add-ons are honestly decent, and if you're already on EE and only need one day they're hard to beat on hassle. Where they lose is the middle: EE jumps from one day straight to seven, so a three or four day gap means buying a week. Monthy prices the actual number of days, so you don't pay for the ones you don't need.

What EE data add-on actually sells

EE sells eight pay as you go data add-ons lasting 1, 7 or 30 days: £3 for 1GB for a day, £5 for a day of unlimited, £9 for 3GB over a week, £12 for 5GB over a week, £16 for a week of unlimited, then £15/£21/£40 for 30-day tiers. Pay monthly add-ons are separate and vary by plan.

When EE data add-on is the better buy

  • You're on EE pay as you go and only need a single day — £3 for 1GB is a fair price and there's nothing to install.
  • Your phone doesn't support eSIM. Monthy is eSIM-only; EE's add-on goes on the SIM you already have.
  • You need a full 30 days. At that point you're not bridging a gap, and EE's 30-day tiers or a rolling SIM will beat us.

When does your normal data reset?

Or just tell us how long

Pick your reset day and we'll work out the rest — you'll see the exact price before you pay anything.

Nothing arrives in the post. Monthy is a second data connection your phone downloads itself — it takes about a minute, and your normal SIM stays exactly where it is.

Common questions

Can I use Monthy if I'm an EE customer?
Yes. Monthy is a separate data-only eSIM that sits alongside your EE SIM. Your EE number, calls and texts carry on exactly as they are — your phone just uses Monthy for data.
Is Monthy actually cheaper than an EE add-on?
For a gap of a few days, usually — because EE has no 3-day or 5-day option, so you end up buying a week. For a single day it's close, and for a full month EE wins.
Do I have to cancel anything?
No. Monthy is a one-off payment. There's no account to close, no renewal, and we won't bill you again.
Will my phone use the right line?
You set Monthy as your mobile data line in settings, and leave calls and texts on your EE SIM. It takes about twenty seconds and we walk you through it.
